About Glooko

Who is Glooko?

Glooko is a digital health company advancing diabetes and glycemic management from hospital to home. We help healthcare organizations address inpatient insulin management, outpatient diabetes care, patient engagement and clinical research through a portfolio built around clinical workflows. Our role is to make diabetes information more useful and help people and care teams work better together

What is Glooko’s mission?

Our mission is to simplify diabetes management, strengthen connections across the care team and improve the lives of people with diabetes. That means designing technology around real needs: helping clinicians interpret complex information, helping health systems standardize important workflows, and helping people stay connected to care between appointments.

Who does Glooko serve?

Glooko serves people living with diabetes, caregivers, clinicians, hospitals and health systems, diabetes device and technology partners, and life sciences and research organizations. Different solutions address different needs—from hospital insulin dosing to specialty diabetes care, diabetes in pregnancy, everyday self-management and clinical evidence development.

What solutions are part of the Glooko portfolio?

Glooko EndoTool supports inpatient glycemic management. GlookoCare supports outpatient diabetes management, with GestationalCare configuring the platform for pregnancy-specific workflows. The GlookoConnect App helps people organize diabetes data and share it with their care teams. GlookoRWD supports real-world data and life sciences research needs. Together, these offerings support one enterprise strategy while retaining the specialized workflows each setting requires.

Why work with Glooko as an enterprise partner?

Diabetes care involves more than one device, department or visit. Glooko combines a broad device ecosystem, clinical workflow expertise, patient engagement and an inpatient-to-outpatient portfolio within one strategic relationship. Health systems can address distinct service-line needs while coordinating their approach to interoperability, governance, implementation and future investment—rather than treating every diabetes challenge as a separate technology decision.

Are all Glooko solutions available in every country?

No. Product availability, regulatory status, supported devices and integrations vary by country. Glooko also offers regional solutions, including Glooko XT in France. A capability available in one market should not be assumed available in another. Your local Glooko team can confirm the appropriate products, connection methods and implementation options for your organization.

Inpatient glycemic management: Glooko EndoTool

What is Glooko EndoTool?

Glooko EndoTool is enterprise glycemic management built around the patient that has been proven to reduce the risk of severe hypoglycemia to virtually zero. EndoTool provides patient-specific insulin dosing and clinical decision support that adapts to the individual patient and changing factors that influence glycemic control. Designed for complex inpatient care, EndoTool helps hospitals deliver safer, more consistent glycemic management through a streamlined workflow with minimal clicks and reduced cognitive burden.

Does EndoTool support both intravenous and subcutaneous insulin?

Yes. EndoTool IV supports intravenous (IV) insulin dosing, while EndoTool SubQ supports subcutaneous (SubQ) insulin dosing. These modalities address different phases and settings of inpatient care.

How does EndoTool personalize insulin dosing?

EndoTool models individual patient characteristics and response to insulin, adjusting its recommendations as new information becomes available. Its approach accounts for factors such as kidney function and steroid use, and estimates residual insulin from earlier dosing. This is different from assigning everyone with the same glucose reading the same fixed dose. EndoTool is the only patient-specific insulin dosing platform on the market today.

Is EndoTool FDA cleared?

EndoTool Glycemic Management System is an FDA-cleared Class II medical device for inpatient use within its labeled indications that has been FDA-cleared since 2006, with more than two decades of development and clinical use.

Can EndoTool help hospitals achieve near-zero severe hypoglycemia?

Published EndoTool research has reported near-zero rates of study-defined severe hypoglycemia. In a seven-year retrospective study involving 16,850 patients and 492,078 blood glucose readings, 0.03% of readings were below 40 mg/dL.¹

What are the CMS hospital-harm measures for glycemic management?

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services maintains two electronic clinical quality measures relevant to inpatient glycemic safety: Hospital Harm—Severe Hypoglycemia (CMS816) and Hospital Harm—Severe Hyperglycemia (CMS871). The hypoglycemia measure evaluates qualifying hospitalizations, while the hyperglycemia measure evaluates qualifying hospital days. Each has specific eligibility, timing and exclusion rules. Hospitals required to report these measures should use the specifications and reporting requirements for the applicable year, not a simple percentage of all glucose readings

How can EndoTool support CMS reporting readiness?

EndoTool supports standardized insulin management and program visibility that can contribute to a hospital’s glycemic safety and quality-improvement work. Reporting readiness also requires accurate EHR data, correctly implemented measure logic and the hospital’s established submission processes.

What insulin dosing platforms are available to hospitals?

Examples include EndoTool, Glytec’s Glucommander and GlucoStabilizer. Hospitals may also use validated institution-specific protocols or EHR-based tools and calculators.

How does EndoTool compare with Glytec’s Glucommander?

Rather than acting as a static sliding scale or simple calculator, Glucommander, based on a linear multiplier, utilizes real-time blood glucose levels and glycemic trends to adjust insulin delivery. EndoTool employs a highly differentiated framework incorporating patient-specific physiological modeling and estimated residual effective insulin (EREI) alongside integrated clinical decision support.² For health systems seeking an expansive enterprise solution, EndoTool further operates within Glooko’s comprehensive glycemic and diabetes management portfolio.

Why can sliding-scale insulin or static protocols not be sufficient in hospitals?

A sliding-scale-only approach reacts to a glucose reading without providing a complete plan for the patient’s ongoing basal and nutritional insulin needs. Acute illness, changing nutrition and kidney function can further complicate management. The American Diabetes Association discourages correction-only insulin without basal insulin for most hospitalized patients, while recognizing selected exceptions with mild hyperglycemia. The issue is that correction alone is often insufficient. Patient-specific decision support with EndoTool can help clinicians implement a more complete, responsive approach.

Why isn’t a generic insulin dosing calculator necessarily enough?

Calculating a dose is only one part of inpatient insulin management. A simple calculator may not address changing patient response, monitoring intervals, transitions, clinical advisories or program oversight. However, not every hospital-built or EHR-based calculator is unvalidated; published evaluations of locally developed systems exist. The important questions are whether the tool is validated for its intended use, maintained and governed, integrated into bedside work, and supported by appropriate training and monitoring. EndoTool offers purpose-built dosing support within that broader clinical workflow.

Outpatient diabetes management: GlookoCare

What is GlookoCare?

GlookoCare is Glooko’s outpatient, or ambulatory, diabetes management platform. It brings together compatible device data, population management, patient engagement and EHR-connected workflows. Its purpose is to help care teams spend less time assembling device data and more time understanding patterns, prioritizing follow-up and supporting people during and between visits.

What does GlookoCare include beyond viewing glucose reports?

GlookoCare supports diabetes care workflows, including reviewing glucose and insulin information together, managing patient populations, identifying patients who may need attention, engaging patients, and bringing relevant information into clinical documentation. Specialty diabetes and endocrinology workflows are part of the core platform. Glooko GestationalCare adds pregnancy-specific workflows within the same patient and clinician experience. Features and workflows may vary by geographic region and product configuration; contact Glooko for availability in your market.

Is GlookoCare device agnostic, and how many devices does the platform support?

GlookoCare supports more than 200 compatible diabetes and health-monitoring devices across its ecosystem, including blood glucose meters, continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps. Its device-neutral approach helps organizations support different manufacturers rather than requiring every patient to use the same brand. Compatibility is model-, market- and connection-specific.

How does diabetes device data get into GlookoCare?

Supported connection methods include manufacturer cloud-account connections, bluetooth-enabled mobile syncing and uploads using supported software or clinic hardware. The method depends on the device and market. Some connections update automatically after setup and others require a patient or clinic upload. Device compatibility, transfer frequency and data availability should be confirmed for the actual devices in use

Does GlookoCare integrate with electronic health records?

Yes. GlookoCare supports EHR-connected workflows, with integrations including Epic, Oracle Health, MEDITECH, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen and Greenway Health. Depending on the implementation, clinicians can access reports, selected device data and metrics, and documentation workflows.

How does GlookoCare support population management and care between visits?

GlookoCare supports EHR-connected workflows, with integrations including Epic, Oracle Health, MEDITECH, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen and Greenway Health. Depending on the implementation, clinicians can access reports, selected device data and metrics, and documentation workflows. Glooko’s APIs can also support connections with other EHR systems when the technical capabilities and implementation resources are available on both sides. Specific capabilities and availability vary by integration and market.

GlookoCare supports more than 200 diabetes and health-monitoring devices, while Tidepool supports more than 80 diabetes devices. GlookoCare combines its supported ecosystem with specialty and pregnancy-specific workflows, patient engagement and Glooko’s wider enterprise portfolio.

Diabetes in pregnancy: GestationalCare

What is Glooko GestationalCare?

GestationalCare is a pregnancy-specific module within GlookoCare. It helps maternal-fetal medicine, OB/GYN, endocrinology, nursing and diabetes education teams review glucose patterns, prioritize follow-up and stay connected with expectant mothers between visits. It extends Glooko’s outpatient foundation with workflows designed around diabetes in pregnancy.

Is Glooko GestationalCare only for gestational diabetes?

No. Glooko GestationalCare supports workflows for gestational diabetes, pre-existing type 2 diabetes in pregnancy and type 1 diabetes in pregnancy. These populations may require different devices, treatment plans and clinical expertise. A shared pregnancy workflow allows teams to review relevant information while keeping each individual’s needs and the care team’s responsibilities in view.

What makes the Glooko GestationalCare workflow pregnancy specific?

Glooko GestationalCare organizes fasting and post-meal readings against pregnancy-specific targets and helps surface patterns, missed testing and missing data across the pregnancy population. Supported workflows include meal context, patient logging, secure engagement, call requests and education. The goal is to help teams see who needs attention and why, not simply collect more glucose readings.

How is GestationalCare different from a glucose logbook or general diabetes app?

A personal logbook helps an individual record information. GestationalCare is designed for the clinical work that follows: reviewing a pregnancy cohort, separating fasting and mealtime patterns, identifying missing information and coordinating follow-up. It brings that care-team workflow together with supported device connectivity, patient engagement and, where available, EHR-connected access to relevant data and documentation. The distinction is how the care team uses and acts on the data, rather than simply replacing paper with a screen.

How does Glooko GestationalCare compare with purpose-built solutions such as GDm-Health or Malama?

Other pregnancy-focused solutions also offer connected monitoring. Huma’s GDm-Health supports pregnancy-specific remote monitoring and compatible Bluetooth meters. Malama offers pregnancy monitoring, connected-device data, care-coordination services and Epic integration. Glooko’s unique approach is to configure pregnancy care within a broader outpatient diabetes platform, supporting gestational, type 1 and type 2 diabetes in pregnancy and continuity after delivery. For existing Glooko partners, this creates an opportunity to extend a familiar, trusted platform.

How does Glooko support pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum care?

GestationalCare supports outpatient pregnancy monitoring and postpartum transition, including preserving information for follow-up after delivery. EndoTool addresses a different need, which is clinician-directed inpatient insulin management, subject to its indications and the hospital’s protocols. These core offerings can support Glooko’s broader commitment to diabetes care across settings.

Where is GestationalCare available?

Glooko GestationalCare is currently available in the United Kingdom and the United States. Organizations should confirm current availability and supported workflows with their local Glooko team. Existing customers can discuss adding the module; new organizations can request a pregnancy-workflow discussion tailored to their care model.

Diabetes self-management: GlookoConnect App

What is the GlookoConnect App?

The GlookoConnect App is Glooko’s patient-engagement and diabetes self-management experience. It helps people with diabetes sync compatible devices, record daily context, review trends and share information with their care teams. By organizing glucose, insulin and everyday information in one place, it supports more informed conversations during appointments and connection between visits.

Is the GlookoConnect app free, and can I use it without a participating clinic?

Glooko offers a free mobile app. People with diabetes can use the app without connecting to a clinic, although automatic sharing with a care team requires that the clinic use GlookoCare and that you connect your account. Professional subscriptions, additional clinical services and market-specific programs are separate from the free app.

Which devices can I sync with the app?

The app supports compatible diabetes devices and connected services through the methods available for each device. Not every device in Glooko’s broader compatibility ecosystem connects directly to a phone; some require a cloud account or computer upload. Check the compatibility guide for your exact model, country and phone platform before setup.

How do I share my data with my healthcare provider?

A participating clinic can give you a ProConnect code to link your account and share your data with its care team. You can also generate and share reports. These are different workflows. Sharing a report sends a snapshot, while connecting to a clinic enables that team to access your shared information. Your clinic can explain how often it reviews data and how to contact it about treatment questions.

Does sharing my data mean someone is monitoring me all the time?

No. Data sharing does not establish continuous clinical monitoring or an emergency-response service. Monitoring arrangements depend on your clinic’s program, staffing and agreed follow-up plan. Ask your care team when it reviews data, which messages it responds to and what to do when you need urgent help. Do not wait for an app message or a routine data review in an emergency.

Real-world data and clinical research: GlookoRWD

What is GlookoRWD?

GlookoRWD supports life sciences and research organizations seeking to understand diabetes management through real-world and clinical trial data. It complements Glooko’s clinical research offering, which includes technology for collecting and managing study data. These services address research needs rather than bedside insulin dosing or individual treatment recommendations.

What kinds of real-world data can Glooko support for research?

Available data categories can include glucose measurements, insulin information, medications, food and exercise information captured through supported devices and workflows. Coverage varies by dataset and participant. A study should confirm which fields are available, how they were collected and the available follow-up period rather than assuming every participant has a complete record of every data type.

What real-world data services can Glooko provide to support partners?

Glooko provides real-world data services including real-world evidence generation, cohort analysis, research site identification, clinical trial patient recruitment, and market intelligence. These services support life science partners across all stages of the product lifecycle—from pre-trial planning and trial data ingestion to post-approval label expansion and formulary defense. Where cross-dataset insights are required, Glooko utilizes industry-standard Privacy-Preserving Record Linkage (PPRL) to tokenize and link de-identified real-world data with third-party data sources without exposing Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

How does Glooko support clinical trials as well as retrospective research?

Glooko’s clinical research offering can support protocol feasibility, site and patient identification, remote data collection, study monitoring and data export. Its clinical trial platform serves prospective study workflows, including decentralized or hybrid approaches. Accessing an existing real-world dataset is a different service from deploying technology to collect new trial data; the appropriate approach depends on the study design.

What is the difference between real-world data and real-world evidence?

Real-world data are health and healthcare information collected in routine practice or everyday use. Real-world evidence is the clinical evidence generated by analyzing those data to answer a defined question about a medical product’s use, benefits or risks. Glooko supports both.

How is privacy addressed when Glooko data are used for research?

Glooko’s Privacy Notice describes how personal data are processed and how permanently anonymized data may be used for clinical research and statistical analysis. Research data access must be considered in the context of the applicable service, agreements and privacy requirements. Patient-identifiable clinical data, anonymized research data and prospectively collected trial data should not be treated as interchangeable. Refer to the current Privacy Notice and discuss the specific research use with Glooko.
