Introducing Glooko EndoTool IV Cloud: Patient-Specific Glycemic Management, Built for the Modern Health System

Today, we announced the commercial availability of Glooko EndoTool IV Cloud, bringing EndoTool’s established patient-specific approach to intravenous (IV) insulin dosing into a modern SaaS experience designed for today’s hospital clinical and technical teams.

Inpatient glycemic management is complex. Patients’ insulin needs change rapidly based on glucose trends, renal function, insulin sensitivity and other clinical factors. At the same time, nurses and other clinicians are managing those decisions within increasingly demanding workflows.

The EndoTool glycemic management system has long been designed around a different premise than static insulin protocols. EndoTool uses available patient information and continually updates its patient-specific model based on how that individual responds over time. Glooko EndoTool IV Cloud brings that clinical foundation into a redesigned experience intended to make patient-specific dosing simpler to access, easier to operationalize and more scalable across health systems.

“Glycemic safety is becoming an increasingly visible priority for health systems, but improving it requires more than another technology layer,” said Mike Alvarez, Chief Executive Officer of Glooko. “It requires clinical intelligence that can support the individual patient, workflows designed around the people delivering care, and infrastructure that allows health systems to scale what works. Glooko EndoTool IV Cloud brings those elements together and represents an important step in how Glooko is helping hospitals and health systems address glycemic management across the continuum of care.”

Proven clinical intelligence, delivered through a modern experience

Glooko EndoTool IV Cloud is Glooko’s FDA 510(k)-cleared, SaaS-based inpatient IV insulin dosing solution. It combines the established EndoTool clinical algorithm with a purpose-built cloud architecture and modernized user experience.

For clinicians, the new experience is designed to reduce friction at the bedside with minimal screens and clicks, consolidated access to key dosing information, intuitive prompts and a streamlined path to a patient-specific insulin dosing recommendation.

For IT teams and health systems, SaaS delivery provides a more modern approach to deployment and ongoing management, and a platform designed to support scalability across additional units and facilities. The platform is also built to meet hospital security expectations, with SOC 2 Type II certification and safeguards designed to protect patient information and support HIPAA compliance.

“Managing IV insulin safely requires clinicians to respond to how a patient’s glucose is changing, not simply apply the same assumptions to every patient,” said Paul Chidester, M.D., Medical Director of EndoTool at Glooko. “EndoTool IV’s patient-specific approach has an established clinical foundation, proven to reduce the risk of severe hypoglycemia to virtually zero. With EndoTool IV Cloud, we are preserving that core intelligence while giving clinicians a simpler, more intuitive way to interact with it.”

EndoTool IV has demonstrated a severe hypoglycemia rate of just 0.0013% in patients with severely impaired kidney function, highlighting its ability to deliver safe, patient-specific insulin dosing even in high risk populations. The new Cloud platform extends that clinical foundation into an experience built for the way hospitals are increasingly deploying and managing enterprise technology.

Meeting the moment around glycemic safety

This launch comes at a time when inpatient glycemic management is becoming increasingly visible as an enterprise quality and patient-safety priority. CMS has established severe hypoglycemia and severe hyperglycemia as Hospital Harm electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs) within the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Program, placing greater emphasis on hospitals’ ability to identify, measure and reduce preventable glycemic harm. CMS has also finalized a policy that will make Hospital Harm eCQMs mandatory after two years of reporting beginning with the fiscal year 2030 payment determination, further elevating glycemic safety from a clinical management issue to an increasingly visible organizational quality priority.

Hospitals are being asked to reduce clinical variation while managing growing patient complexity, workforce pressures and new expectations around measurement and quality performance. Glooko EndoTool IV Cloud is designed to help health systems move from static approaches toward patient-specific glycemic management that can be implemented consistently across the enterprise.

At Glooko, we believe that is ultimately what modernization should enable: preserving clinical value where it already exists, simplifying the experience around it and making it easier for customers to extend that value to more clinicians and patients.

Glooko EndoTool IV Cloud is now commercially available in the United States.
