Bagsværd, Denmark, 1 October 2018 – Novo Nordisk today announced plans to make the durable, connected insulin pens NovoPen® 6 and NovoPen Echo® Plus commercially available across key markets commencing in early 2019. In parallel, to support the future integration of its connected pens with broader digital health solutions, Novo Nordisk has signed new partnership agreements with leading diabetes technology companies that share Novo Nordisk’s vision to improve the lives of people with diabetes: Dexcom, Glooko and Roche.

The partnerships aim to advance the solutions available for people living with diabetes and their healthcare professionals. Building upon its existing work with IBM Watson Health and Glooko, Novo Nordisk aims to seamlessly integrate insulin dosing data from connected pen devices with its partners’ open ecosystems and diabetes management solutions, such as data from continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems and blood glucose meters (BGM).

“Our non-exclusive partnership strategy allows us to integrate with the various digital platforms that people are already using to help manage their diabetes,” said Camilla Sylvest, executive vice president of Commercial Strategy & Corporate Affairs at Novo Nordisk. “We firmly believe that this will help more people realise the full benefit of our innovative medicines and begin to ease the mental burden of diabetes treatment for those individuals.”

The launch of Novo Nordisk’s first connected insulin pens, NovoPen® 6 and NovoPen Echo® Plus, will commence in the first quarter of 2019 and roll out to over 50 countries in the coming years. NovoPen® 6 and NovoPen Echo® Plus will eventually be phased in to replace NovoPen® 5 and NovoPen Echo® in countries where those devices are currently available.

“After receiving caregiver feedback, we knew a global roll-out was the right thing to do,” said Camilla Sylvest, referring to a 2017-18 Swedish pilot in collaboration with Glooko. “During the pilot, healthcare providers noted that patient dialogues improved without having to invest additional time.”

Global Head of Roche Diabetes Care Marcel Gmuender added that, “synching Novo Nordisk insulin data with our digital diabetes management solutions like mySugr and Accu-Chek Smart Pix will allow us to enhance quality of care and help create more sustainable healthcare systems.”

Novo Nordisk will also integrate insulin dosing data with Dexcom CGM data in the coming years. “We believe that a fully connected ecosystem represents a significant opportunity to improve the lives of people on multiple daily injections,” said Steve Pacelli, executive vice president of Strategy & Corporate Development at Dexcom.

“We are pleased to extend our collaboration with Novo Nordisk,” said Russ Johannesson, CEO at Glooko. “We are excited about evolving our integrated solutions and look forward to helping more people manage their diabetes via the Glooko platform.”

Beyond launching connected durable devices, Novo Nordisk expects to deliver connectivity for its disposable, pre-filled injection pens later in 2019. In the longer term, Novo Nordisk aims to increase the availability of connected pens and offer solutions for personalised treatment guidance.

Mountain View, Calif. and Gothenburg, Sweden –June 22, 2018, Glooko, the leader in diabetes data management, today announced participation in the 78th Annual American Diabetes Association (ADA) meeting taking place this weekend in Orlando, Fla. At the event, Glooko will demonstrate the new version 5.0 of its diabetes management mobile application and will share results from a recent human factors study on its Mobile Insulin Dosing System (MIDS) for long-acting insulin (LAI) titration, which was FDA cleared earlier this year.

With over 95% of glucose, insulin pump and exercise devices supported, the new Glooko Mobile App focuses on features that add context to glucose and insulin data. Version 5.0 makes tracking personal lifestyle events like exercise, food and medication easier and faster. The new release includes:

“Glooko’s universal platform for diabetes data management not only seamlessly captures data from most diabetes devices in the market, but now makes lifestyle tracking easier than ever before,” said Dave Conn, Chief Commercial Officer at Glooko. He continued, “Adding further insights like food, medication, insulin, exercise and notes about mood, feelings and behaviors provides relevant context to an individual’s glucose readings and helps people with diabetes and clinicians better augment self-care and the overall clinical care plan.”

In addition to demonstrating the new Glooko Mobile App and the recently released version of the Glooko Web App, Glooko will also be presenting a poster at the ADA conference on Saturday, June 23, from 11:30-12:30 pm. Agreement with Glooko Provides Broad Access of Insulin Pump Therapy Optimization to Physicians, Patients and Payers

PETAH TIKVA, Israel, June 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — DreaMed Diabetes, developer of personalized diabetes management solutions, announced today that the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted a De Novo request for DreaMed Advisor Pro, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based diabetes treatment decision support software. Advisor Pro is indicated to assist healthcare providers in the management of people with type 1 diabetes who use insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM).

DreaMed Advisor Pro is a cloud-based digital solution generating insulin delivery recommendations by analyzing information from CGM, self-monitoring blood glucose (SMBG), and insulin pump data. Applying event-driven adaptive learning, Advisor Pro refines its understanding for each individual and sends recommendations to the healthcare provider on how to optimize a patient’s insulin pump settings for basal rate, carbohydrate ratio (CR) and correction factor (CF).

“This is an innovation that can improve people’s lives and the FDA decision confirms what we believe is an important step in making a more meaningful connection between the healthcare provider and their type 1 diabetes patients,” said DreaMed CEO Eran Atlas. “Type 1 diabetes, managed with greater attention, leads to improved patient quality of life and reduced payer health-related costs. Advisor Pro enables patients using CGM and an insulin pump to analyze data and recommend to their provider when a change in diabetes-care treatment is timely and needed.”

There are more than one million people in the United States with type 1 diabetes1. According to the T1D Exchange, the largest clinic registry of patients with type 1 diabetes in the U.S., about 50% of patients in the registry use insulin pumps2. This added digital health capability is a step toward making pump and CGM technology more valuable in diabetes management.

Two years ago, in anticipation of the FDA review, DreaMed and Glooko, the leader in diabetes data management, signed an agreement that enables Advisor Pro to be integrated into the Glooko diabetes data management platform.

“This is a significant achievement and practical example of how AI and digital health can improve patient care and enable care teams,” said Russ Johannesson, CEO of Glooko. “We congratulate DreaMed and look forward to working closely with them to demonstrate that Advisor Pro can play a central role in optimizing insulin therapy.”

“Today marks a milestone for people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The FDA clearance reinforces why Helmsley supports the development of technologies like DreaMed Advisor Pro that show promise for improving lives in the T1D community,” said David Panzirer, a Trustee of The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, which in 2016 awarded a $3.4M grant in support of Advisor Pro. “Managing T1D can be overwhelming both for people living with it, and for their clinicians. The DreaMed Advisor Pro harnesses the power of AI to optimize insulin regimens, and will undoubtedly lead to better outcomes for people living with T1D – a driving vision here at Helmsley.”

This is the second regulatory approval for Advisor Pro this year, having received the EU CE Mark in February 2018. In addition, DreaMed received CE Mark for its artificial pancreas technology in 2015, Glucositter, which was licensed by global health technology leader Medtronic Diabetes.

About DreaMed Diabetes
DreaMed spun out of Schneider Children’s Medical Center in 2014, following seven years developing its artificial pancreas technology. Since then, DreaMed Diabetes develops solutions and personalized decision support solutions for the optimization of insulin therapy for people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. The Company’s first product, GlucoSitter was developed for closed-loop insulin therapy and was licensed to Medtronic Diabetes. World’s first long-term CGM system to be integrated with world’s leading diabetes management platform

GERMANTOWN, MD, June 10, 2018– Senseonics Holdings, Inc. (NYSE-American: SENS), a medical technology company focused on the development and commercialization of transformative glucose monitoring products, today announced a partnership with Glooko, Inc, the leading diabetes data management company. The partnership enables integration of the long-term Eversense® branded continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems with Glooko’s diabetes data management platform.

The integration of these solutions will allow Eversense CGM data to be synced into Glooko’s platform directly from the Senseonics cloud. Eversense users will be able to view historical glucose and related data both in Glooko’s Mobile and Web Apps and will continue to get real-time readings from their Eversense Mobile Application. Healthcare professionals may view their patients’ data in the Glooko Population Tracker in interactive reports alongside other data resident in Glooko.

“With this integration, users can consolidate their glucose data with insulin, meals, medication and exercise to help them see glycemic patterns more readily. Glooko allows our users to take full advantage of both companies’ platforms and the large amount of data from our Eversense® and Eversense® XL systems” said Dr. Tim Goodnow, President and CEO of Senseonics. “Partnering with an innovative platform like Glooko fits with our strategy of giving people the tools to use all of their health data to conveniently and confidently make actionable lifestyle decisions.”

For Glooko, the integration of the Eversense systems is the first long-term sensor that will be compatible with their intelligent digital health platform. Users of the Eversense systems will have the opportunity to see how their glucose levels change over the long term without having to estimate the impact of frequent sensor changeovers and warm-up periods.

“We are thrilled to add Senseonics’ breakthrough Eversense and Eversense XL CGM data to our platform so that people with diabetes and clinicians can access this valuable data in context in our reports online and via mobile,“ said Russ Johannesson, Glooko’s CEO.   He continued, “Our cloud integration with Senseonics gives users easy access to their glucose data from the sensor, enabling them to make decisions based on their glucose patterns.”

The Eversense system has been integrated with Diasend in the EU since 2017. The companies expect implementation of the Eversense/Glooko data integration to be by the end of the year. Learnings from this partnership will benefit both organizations as they expand into insulin titration and decision support tools.

Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group increases diabetes patient engagement with Glooko

Mountain View, California and Gothenburg, SwedenMarch 14, 2018, Glooko, the leader in diabetes data management, today announced the results of its pilot program with Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group that aimed to optimize data-driven decisions for type 2 diabetes patients with high A1c levels. The six-month program revealed strong improvements in average blood glucose levels, patient adherence and engagement.

Spanning from April to October 2016, the Sharp Rees-Stealy care teams worked with 50 patients tracking patient engagement and a group of diabetes measures called diabetes Advanced Perfect Care (APC) which includes A1c, LDL, microalbumin (MALB) or Neph Screen and blood pressure before, during and after the pilot. At the start of the pilot, patients recorded an average BG of 160 mg/dL and by the end, patients improved their average BG by ~15 mg/dL (~10 percent). Additionally, patients doubled their daily BG testing frequency from less than one time per day to an average of 1.8 times per day.

“We’re excited to see compelling evidence from this program,” said Rick Altinger, CEO of Glooko. “One of the biggest challenges in diabetes care is leveraging the untapped data stored in disparate diabetes devices. A key aspect of this program was allowing patients to sync their data from their existing meters and receive actionable insights, mitigating hypo/hyper-glycemic events. We’re eager to continue this program to determine the impact Glooko can have on a larger patient population.”

Sharp Rees-Stealy assessed several different solutions that monitored patients’ glucose data remotely and ultimately selected Glooko because of its broad diabetes device support, easy-to-use mobile app, and collaborative approach. Due to the positive patient engagement and clinical outcomes results, Sharp Rees-Stealy is expanding to a second phase with Glooko, which will draw insights from the first phase and broaden the group of patients.

“Due to its intuitive and highly functional interface, Glooko’s tools appeal to a large portion of our patient population,” said Janet Appel, Director of Informatics and Population Health at Sharp Rees-Stealy. “When patients use Glooko, they feel empowered and it inspires them to better manage their condition; it makes them feel like they’re in control. The results and product are just a couple of reasons why we decided to move forward with a larger patient population.”

Trusted by the world’s leaders in diabetes care, we are used by 7,000 clinics and over 1.5 million PWDs in 23 countries across 15 languages.  Learn more by visiting www.glooko.com
